Character Name: Braq Magada
Race: Orc
Age: 26
Gender: Male MC IGN: SolarDusk_
Character Description:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s physical appearance, including height, eye color, and skin tone.)
Braq stands at the impressive height of seven feet nine inches. Braq is lean for an Orc but lacked nothing in the muscle department. He isn’t as bulky as other orcs, primarily because he fights with his hands and legs more so than he does other weapons and because of that, is slightly more used to dodging and moving on his feet. His tusks are kept clean and short. His giant nose is jagged from being repeatedly broken over his life of fighting. Most of his face is rough from repeated blows to it. His hair is all gone except for a single ponytail of black hair on top of his head kept at no more than six inches in length. The most prominent part of his face was his yellow eyes.
Braq walks around topless, with only a pair of bracers around his forearms and some bandages on his hands. His lower half is covered by loose-fitting pants. They kept his legs free and able to move as needed. His exposed upper body showed off his dark orange skin. Occasional bruises or small scars can be seen if one gets close enough to see.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Braq is a pugilist at heart. He fights because it is fun. Fighting for entertainment is absolutely something he enjoys doing. When not fighting, he would be doing heavy labor. Smashing rocks or cutting down trees or moving things around with ease.
Character Personality/Traits:
Braq is not easily bothered, he is a simple orc of few needs. Sleeping in a bed is seen as ‘fancy’ and anything other than basic meat is seen as ‘noble food’.
Whenever possible Braq loves to fight. He sees it as good fun, not anything else. Being able to fight is all he could ever ask of anyone. He doesn’t fight to win or lose, he fights to fight and have fun. When it comes to his God of Conflict, Uldir, what better way to honor the God than to fight as many people as he could to share his God's greatest gift to the world!
Character Biography:
(At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences, you must reference server lore)
The Mesa was a harsh place to grow up in for an Orc. Less so since the end of the Pact war, but still difficult nonetheless. The struggle was part of their way of life. To make things easy was to not live in conflict against the world to survive.
This was one of the first lessons Braq learned as a child. His earliest memory was The Plague. He was barely 4 years old and he remembers many members of his tribe dying from being sick. Bodies were falling, and when his own father was sick, he didn’t know what to think. He only remembered the panic that ensued from his mother and older brother when he first fell ill. However, The Gods did not want Braq’s father to die just yet. He pulled through, and because of that, proved he was strong. It wasn’t long after The Plague ended that Braq remembered his first black eye. Fighting his older brother ended with him receiving a solid punch to the face. Many of their fights ended up with one or the other getting hurt. One fight ended poorly however. Braq had accidentally broken the pendent his brother wore that was a gift from their grandfather. One that as the eldest, he was supposed to wear as a symbol of who he was and will become.
It was years later when Braq gained one of his worst memories. The chief of his tribe Oomjor was killed in a duel to death. He remembered when his father and mother were worried. With the one they looked to for guidance now gone, worry of a civil war spurring within the tribe continued to whisper. Rumors of tribes being taken down and killed left and right spurred even more fear in with his family. Going to sleep afraid that you might not wake up. Wondering when your next meal will come. It was terrible. When Eugrok took up the role of chief, many were filled with hope that they finally would have food, and guidance, and could return to some sense of normality. Yet the opposite happened. Less food was available, to the point they were forced to eat their own dead. Braqs parents did what they could to ensure their two sons didn’t have to, but food soon no longer existed. The taste will be something Braq will never forget. They were eating cooked orc meat. It wasn’t long before a revolt against Eugrok occurred. Braqs own parents aided in removing and killing him. When Khorbesh was established as the leader, things improved. Real food was once again available thanks to the aid of The Kingdom. Braq could sleep without worry of being killed or starving. He was nearly eleven when the last of the Culstists were shoved out of the desert. The memory of the horrible times they brought upon him and his family was part of why he will never forgive them.
Years after the Mesa War, Braq really started to find himself. He grew up quickly since the war ended and many members of his tribe had died due to the Cultsits betraying them all. He adapted to being used to living off very little. He shared many things with his brother, who remained the eldest of the two of them.
He was taking care of Braq when his parents were busy with work. Part of that was they both trained to fight with one another. Mostly in the form of wrestling or wooden sticks. Hours of grappling, punching, kicking, and wacking took place between the two. His older brother was only three years older than him. Their gap in size was slowly shrinking now that Braq was in his teenage years.
He enjoyed fighting. Not just winning, but even if he lost, he always had a feeling of excitement for the next brawl. Other children of his age were always fighting one another when not helping their families
Each fight brought joy to Braq. His father would say “He is a natural lover of Uldir. Our son was blessed with a fighter's heart. I bet he will become a Skald or even a Champion!” Braq enjoyed the compliment, but he didn’t fight for that reason. He did it because he enjoyed doing so. As the years kept coming and going, Braq found himself a natural hand-to-hand fighter. Using grapels, punching, and kicks to fight. Of course, he learned how to fight with a weapon, mainly clubs or crude maces. Braq was an Orc. He had the physical strength to smash stones with little to no effort. Why not use that raw strength to his advantage? When the year-long winter occurred, that was a difficult and annoying time for Braq and his family. Food was sparse, and he constantly had to wear several layers of clothes and hides. However, during that time one major event happened to him. First, he had his first relationship with a female Orc named Otak. His time with her, even as a teenager at the age of sixteen, was important to him. Even more important was the few short months later when she left him for another Orc who was older and a hunter who was a member of the well-known Dire Wolf riding tribe. Braq was heartbroken, and since then, never fallen in love again. He did have relationships, some of them went further than others, but none of them lasted. He started to focus more on fighting and less on personal relationships. When he was Twenty-Two years old, he started to hear rumors of arenas within The Kingdom’s cities. People fought in climactic battles to see who was stronger. Braq had only fought those within his tribe. At this point, he had fought nearly everyone who was willing to. Some he had bested, and many others put him in his place. Nonetheless, he still fought. Years go by and he hears more and more stories from the west where the Kingdom cities were. To the point, he no longer could stay home. His parents and brother were not wanting him to leave, but Braq said he wished to fight in the Arenas and fight as many other people as he could. On his twenty-sixth birthday, Braq left home, but not without a final gift from his brother. It was part of the pendent Braq had broken many years ago. It was meant to remind him of his family while he was gone, and that he owed his brother a new pendent still.
With a final laugh, Braq headed off to find a new challenge and new experiences.
Other/Extra:
Instead of the starting longsword, he is given a mace or club or some kind of bludgeoning weapon. I also would ask his starting bow & arrows be removed and replaced with he is given leather or cloth wraps for his fists, as he wouldn’t use a ranged weapon.
A lored item for the broken pendent that was given to him by his elder brother, Knognu
Magic Biography:
(At least three paragraphs about your character's relationship to magic, and how they may discover their potential.)
Braq would not have been tested before arriving to Falkvard. However, if he were to be tested, Braq would find the fact he has the ability to use magic to be a genuine surprise to him. For him to be tested, it would be of mild curiosity, or to prove a point that he didn’t have any and was all genuine personal talent that he had. No outside powers aided him at all. Orcs typically can’t use magic. Nobody in his family was blessed by Bothimir, and the fact he could cause a temporary problem for him. Braq views magic as a cheat. Why use magic in a fight of honor when it should be only be based on your own personal skill and prowess? Magic was like using a pill or potion. It wasn’t a true fight of talent, only one to achieve victory through any means. It would take a long while before Braq would start to use his magic. Either from an outside look from another or that he on his own realized that it was his magic. It was no different than a muscle, or being able to think.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
Magic is a gift from Bothimir to the world. To use magic, one must have a trinket. Trinkets come in many different sizes and shapes, but all have a function and a power level. As one uses their trinket and magic over time, they start to understand it more and can over time use more powerful spells. Regardless of the aspect used, using it causes a drain on the person. Using it too much can and will harm the caster. So, one must cast spells safely and over time, they can cast more and far stronger spells. How one becomes more adept at their aspect depends upon the aspect, but it’s always done through usage and sometimes with tutoring.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your character first/only aspect:
Braq would use Lightning magic to cause zaps while he had someone in his grip. The feeling would give his enemies an offputting feeling, and at best (For Braq) temporarily cause his enemies to fear him even more if they were to be grabbed him. The only other use Braq would use a weak trinket would be to create sparks to be a bit showier in his fights. Anything to get a crowd really going either in laughter or in the excitement of the fight.
