Character Name: Kai Aldebrand
Race: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Character Description:
Kai is a fairly tall man, standing at a solid 5"8! Thanks to his dark red hair he's usually easily spotted in a crowd! His eyes are a light brown while his skin is nicely tanned and is usually found wearing a plain but dirty white shirt along with some common leather pants. A large work apron can also be spotted on him sometimes as he forgets to take it off. Overall, he has a friendly looking face that makes him easily approachable!
Due to his line of work he has a pretty bulky build, especially his arms as he spends most of his time hammering away at things.
Character Occupation: Blacksmith
Character Personality/Traits:
Kai is a very loud and flamboyant idiot, always trying to stand out in a crowd. He's bold and will happily charge into danger with a grin on his face, rarely backing down from a challenge. Kai is somewhat of an idiot and has no filter, caring little for what people think or say about him. He will often say whatever is on his mind.
But other than that he's very friendly and always eager to make and help new friends, no matter who or what they are.
Character Biography:
Kai was a rambunctious little boy who was born at the worst possible time; right in the middle of the Farm Blight! Luckily his parents were a pair that didn't go down easily! Both of them were hunters by trade and adventurers for fun and were able to make it through the latter half of the food shortage thanks to the help of some friendly faces and knack for big game hunting!
With things then beginning to return to normal, it should have been smooth sailing for the Aldebrand family! And at first it was! Thanks to Kais grandfather looking over him from time to time, his parents were free to venture into the forest to work as hunters. Until one day they didn't return from their trip. The foul beasts that suddenly began wandering the Pine Forest putting an end to them before their son could turn two..
And so, without much of a warning, the raising of a young snot-nosed Kai fell into the hands of his grandfather. Who unfortunately wasn't good at these sorts of things.. Not entirely sure how to raise the boy without the help of his late wife, he decided that he'll at least teach him about the only thing he's good at; smithing.
The rest of young Kai's life was fairly lonely. He'd spend most of his time inside his grandfather's forge, playing with various (child proofed) blacksmithing tools until he was old enough to properly be taught how to use them. Spending such a long time in the forge proved to be surprisingly good for his health as he pretty much avoided the first long winter.
Kai would quickly come to learn that being a blacksmith is quite the demanding job. The people always needed repairs to be done on various tools but more importantly.. they needed weapons! Whether trying to reclaim a holy city or fighting against the Cult at the crossroads, swords and spears were always a must have. So his grandfather smithed and Kai learned.
As he grew older, his knowledge on smithing wasn't the only thing that grew. Reading various fantastical books sparked a need for adventure in the young Kai, much to his grandfather's dismay. And it took a whole lot of effort to keep the boy from charging out of the city with a sword and shield in hand once he heard that the Crossroads had been lost. But over the years, his grandfather's health slowly began deteriorating. No matter how tough one is, they can't escape old age after all. His worsening health now being the only thing that kept the growing Kai from leaving the forge and recklessly the city's final assault on the occupied Crossroads.
The years would pass and so would the opportunities to venture out of the city. While the work in the forge wasn't as severe as it was in the years prior, Kai had to pull a lot more weight around it now. The teenage boy only grew healthier and stronger while his grandfather grew weaker. At age 15, he came up with a genius plan of setting off onto an exciting adventure out of the city, only for the Deep Winter to promptly put a stop to that! Thankfully trapping him in the city.. At least the forge was warm.
The seemingly endless winter would continue. And so did the work Kai had to do. His grandfather's health worsening even more, the older Kai pretty much had to take over the business. But as the winter finally came to an end, so did his grandfather. Coming to pass peacefully in his sleep.
Not having the funds to continue paying for the forge and his home, Kai scrounged whatever he could and set off! He'd spend the next year or so being a general handyman around the city of Falkward. Repairing this and that, helping out at bars and simply just.. helping out wherever he could. The meager amount of coin he received just barely allowed him to keep on going. Until suddenly, he realized that he should probably try and find an actual job.. one that pays good! At a forge maybe!!
Other/Extra:
I already have a character that I made a year or so ago. I do not plan on playing him any more and will be dropping him. Have him get eaten by a bear that would be funny B)
Hello! Your application is... Pending!
A very short and sweet app with some detail about major events, but there's a couple of things you need to do before I can give this the pass because there's a lot missing! For starters, the Hunter's Guild is a player-run Guild and the members typically are the players. So his mother wouldn't have been a member, but there's a solid chance that she helped the Hunter's on the side and her tragic death was due to events that involved being around that area at the time. She would not have been at the final confrontation either, but maybe she died during the campaign in the forest itself due to the strange happenstances within Pine Valley. The second big thing is that you jump straight from Kai's mother's involvement in Pine Valley to the Deep Winter with very little in-between about big major events. I'm going to need to see examples of Kai's life in-between his mother's death, and the Deep Winter; that is thirteen years at least of unwritten story I want to see from him to flesh him out, sixteen at most. This could be as simple as writing what he heard and saw from that time, how busy it was at the forge, anything he personally witnessed and things that personally effected his family (the Crossroads stuff for example would have been a big one for any merchant and craftsman as it cut off a lot of travel in that area). I'll be providing a timeline below so that you can use that to help flesh him out between the events, as well as add your own tidbits of personal story as you see fit!
We look forward to your edit!
