(The pointy eared addition to my character roster on the account of FrustratedFilth. Lorian will be my third character along with Fasiya and Natalia. And yes, I joined the evil elf gang.)
Character Name: Lorian Seda
Race: High elf
Age: 35
Gender: Fabulous (Male)
Character Description:
With his long, sun-kissed blonde hair flowing past his shoulders, he carries an air of elegance and grace. Those piercing ocean blue eyes and a gentle pink blush adorns his cheeks, lending a touch of warmth to his elven features. Adorned in a pristine white blouse, Lorian wears a set of finely crafted leather satchels, carefully arranged across his chest and back. Carrying whatever adventuring supplies, coins and tools for his instruments that he might need. His weight tends to lean around a stern 7 ft tall, his boots giving him some extra inches.
A verdant green sash cinches his waist, complementing the earthy tones of his attire, which includes loosely fitted pants and almost powerful heeled boots that echo like his music with each step.
Character Occupation: Minstrel
Character Personality/Traits:
At first glance, Lorian carries himself with some natural charm and charisma. His voice since birth carries a soothing tone with it. Putting that charm to use along with his quick wits, he often tends to get himself lulled into ventures. He has a tendency to put his own beauty first before anything else most times, if a minstrel doesn’t look his best. Then they shouldn’t be a minstrel.
Despite his thirst for adventure and knowledge about the outside world and the exciting life of a city dweller. This tends to lure him into the occasional party where one can act a bit unprofessional under the guise of alcohol and drugs. Something he is well understanding of. But lastly, that voice that continues to sing of adventure wishes to keep on going. Wanting to avoid any long term relationships and even fears the idea of ‘settling’ down.
Character Biography:
High elves having children was a rare event, thankfully for Lorian’s parents. They were blessed with a son. They too had their fair share of events in life, but the two humble farmers were happy knowing they had someone to continue on their lineage. This left a young Lorian often eating from the wooden spoon, as they wanted their only child to know a fair share of the rough life. While he studied the way of acting properly in the terms of dealing with elven nobility, he also had to operate on the fields within the farm outside of Falkvard. Tending to the crops, dealing with animals and getting a taste of the commoner life. Something he didn’t enjoy deep down in his heart as he often craved for a life of venture outside of the farm.
News had reached the family farm during one harvest season, a famous musician that he heard great praise about. Despite how expensive the show was to even see it, Lorian had saved up enough coin from his allowance to visit. Begging his parents to allow him to attend the show with some coin left over, Lorian’s heart was stirred by the enchanting melodies of the traveling musician. Igniting some kind of newfound love for the art and song that the musician brought forth. Spending what coin he had left from his allowance to purchase as second-hand lute from a merchant after the show, it stroked the flames in his heart and he often found solace in crafting his own tunes during the quiet moments on the farm. Despite the lad being in need of some serious teaching.
The months continued to pass and during one harvest, the blight had ravaged the crops of not only his parent’s farm but almost every other harvest within the land. Uncertainty had concerned his family and with it Lorian took the risk of begging his parents to allow him to attend a set of private classes on musical theatre. A set of traveling tutors had arrived to Falkvard and were willing to teach a set of students for a fee of course. Following a heartfelt plea that eventually allowed his parents to relent and send Lorian off to practice his dream and hey, it got him out of the house for a bit.
Learning how to perform and play event just decently was a trial in its own. What he did not expect was the teachers that held the classes were monsters in their own way. Perfectionists that berated the students including Lorian himself. Surely he learned, but at the cost of being berated and embarrassed until he reached a level of adequacy. Weeks went by between attending classes and returning home. Lorian had left with some newfound knowledge, conflicted thoughts about how music was presented and a dire urge to make it much more joyous than his teachers had presented it. With his newfound talent, Lorian had hoped to break away from the simple life of a commoner and bring his parents to something much more noble with his performance and charm.
Other/Extra:
Starting item as per my donator status, a minstrel can't minstrel without an instrument!)
&6Second hand lute
&fA lute that has seen some use and abuse over the years. Having passed many hands and endured through many dramatical nights. But yet, it still continued to sing a melody in itself when a string was plucked.
&fThe spruce that made up this musical instrument became slightly warped over the years. Having been patched up and many strings replaced, one might even catch a glimpse of an indent within the bottom half.
&6Along the wooden exterior at the base, there is a name carefully carved into it in the elven tongue. Translating to 'Resilient Requiem'.

Magic Biography:
High elves and magic were quite common things in Saphirel. This was no exception to Lorian’s parents and later in his life Lorian himself. The young farm boy watched his parents tend to the field, using trinkets that they obtained to help move the land with earth magic and ensure the watering was done properly through magic as well. Despite the attempts by his parents, Lorian couldn’t quite get a good grasp or seem to attune to one of their trinkets. It was when Lorian eventually attended the first day of the classes held by the traveling musicians that the lad realized just how up tight this might be. Learning how to play professionally was more hectic than one might expect. Disciplining teachers, competition between the students and an almost cut throat environment.
Lorian was a nobody and it was when one teacher passed him a trinket. A basic illusion one for students to practice with, being verbally shunned due to his inefficiency at first. It was when Lorian had begun playing and focused on the trinket underneath all the stress. Nervousness had wracked the elf, under the watchful and hazing ire of his teacher and fellow students. Within a few notes playing, a voice emitted from the elf. His mouth remained closed but his words within his head had become audible to the teacher and the rest of the students.
The notes came to a stop and a word or two of praise echoed from the teacher. Taking the trinket back and sending Lorian back to his seat. It took some time to focus on not breaking into an embarrassment-fueled sobbing fit, but the lad had finally used magic for the first time. Even if it did leave him slightly exhausted, an instrument in itself for the future.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
The magic system is a complicated little thing. Some races in Saphirel are either able to cast magic while some simply are not. Those races that can cast magic are limited to certain aspects and or how many aspects in total that they are able to master. Some are even capable of casting magic to a certain level once trained through an innate blessing. To even be able to cast magic also requires a section to be filled out during creation of the character, an application within the application.
You either got magic or you don’t. Those who can cast magic and get approved with it. Unless your race has an innate method of casting a certain aspect, you’ll be needing a trinket. Even then the trinket requires time and effort to be put into it through training in game. Trinkets vary in terms of their level, so you’ll only be able to cast magic once trained to the limitation of the trinket. Much like working out, if you over stress yourself while casting magic, it can have some heavily dangerous consequences. So you’ll need to be wise with your spells and have a clear view of whatever you’re casting on because vision matters.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
With an illusion trinket in hand, Lorian would use it in combination with his instrument and performance abilities to create something of a ‘voice’. Allowing him to focus on playing his instrument while vocals were engaged.
Your application is ACCEPTED! Thank you for making those edits. Please helpop once you get in game to get set up with your starting items and silver, and please be sure to have fun! Additionally if you have questions about how elves behave or the sometimes unspoken cultural norms they have, don't hesitate to ask questions in #general-inquires on discord. Have a great time with Lorian and we look forward to seeing them soon!
